Measuring For A Deacon Stole
We need five measurements in order to duplicate the fit of your deacon stole.
Select the deacon stole that fits you best.
Lay it out on a at surface.
- Measurement 1 is the length from the bottom edge to the hip miter (you can increase or decrease this number if you want the stole to be longer or shorter).
- Measurement 2 is the length from the hip miter to the shoulder seam (you can increase or decrease this number if you need more or less room across your chest).
- Finding the shoulder angle is a bit more complicated.
- First, place a book or other straight edged item perpendicular to the stole, creating a right angle to the stole.
- Measurement 3 is the length from the edge of the book to the shoulder seam along the upper edge of the stole.
- Measurement 4 is the length from the edge of the book to the shoulder seam along the lower edge of the stole.
- If the shoulder seam doesn’t fit you right, the outside edge of the shoulder seam can rise up, creating a point or “epaulet.”
- You can fix this by reducing Measurement 4 a little bit.
- Measurement 5 is the width of the stole.
